While working with international investors for a long time, I experienced, first hand, the importance of social interactions established during a commercial negotiation.
Knowing a little about the culture of those at the negotiating table or being able to articulate some basic conversation in their own language, is a great ice breaker and turns making business so much easier…!.
Bearing in mind the challenges foreigners face while learning Portuguese, I know that keeping motivation is crucial and lifting good humor is the key.
I started learning languages as a small child and was taught in German from Kindergarten to Highschool and in English during the most part of my education process.
I am an engineer with an extensive career as a Business Negotiator in European Cooperation Policies and Financial Resources for Development.
Personality-wise I believe I am a very pragmatic, analytic, organized, positive and self-confident person that gladly embraces a challenge, both in personally and professionally.
I am also a very energetic person that cannot go by without practising sports on a regular basis.

The method I use in class aims to obtain a fluid speech and a good pronunciation, which is why a significant part of the class is conversation-based.
Depending on the student's interest and level, and in addition to teaching books, everyday materials, such as media articles, music lyrics or extracts from film dialogues are frequently used during lessons.
I find it very interesting to put my students in situations that allow a more extended contact with the population, motivating them to engage on a more practical dialogue - browsing a traditional market or attending a cultural event, for example.
The goal is to broaden the student's approach to the language, enhancing the pleasure to learn and the confidence to express themselves in Portuguese, whether during a professional or a daily activity.

A Maria é uma excelente professora de língua.

She is always very well prepared and adapts the material to my needs. The classes are very interesting; sometimes we discuss current topics, other times I learn about historical figures and events. And as promised, we talk a lot! It's often not easy for me, but she is very patient and guides me through these difficulties very gently and skilfully. Grammar and vocabulary are not neglected either and she teaches them in a very natural way. I enjoy my classes with her very much.
