Sobre Laura

I am a Portuguese native speaker with a degree and postgraduate qualification in Art History and Heritage from the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Lisbon. My academic background has helped me develop strong communication, writing, research and analytical skills, which I bring to my teaching approach.

I am passionate about language, culture and communication, and I believe that learning Portuguese is not just about grammar and vocabulary, but also about understanding the culture and feeling confident using the language in everyday life.

My approach is organised, friendly and tailored to each student's individual needs. I value clear explanations, personalised learning materials and practical exercises, creating a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and progressing at their own pace.

Whether you are learning Portuguese from scratch, preparing to move to Portugal, or simply looking to improve your conversational skills, my goal is to help you communicate more naturally and confidently.

I look forward to helping you discover the Portuguese language and culture!

My online Portuguese lessons are designed for international students and adults who want to learn Portuguese from scratch, improve their existing skills, or feel more confident communicating in everyday situations.

My teaching approach

I believe that learning a language should be a practical, engaging and personalised experience. Each lesson is adapted to your current level, learning pace and individual goals, whether you are moving to Portugal, travelling, working, studying or simply interested in learning a new language.

What we can work on:
- Speaking and conversation: Develop confidence and learn how to communicate naturally in Portuguese.
- Vocabulary and grammar: Build a solid foundation and understand how to use the language in context.
- Listening and reading comprehension: Improve your ability to understand spoken and written Portuguese.
- Pronunciation: Practise sounds, expressions and everyday phrases.
- Practical Portuguese: Learn useful language for real-life situations, such as shopping, ordering food, meeting people and navigating daily life in Portugal.

How do the lessons work?

Our first lesson can be used to understand your current level, discuss your goals and identify the areas you would like to improve. From there, I prepare personalised lessons combining clear explanations, practical exercises, conversation and supporting materials suited to your needs.

My aim is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at your own pace.

All lessons take place online, offering flexibility and the opportunity to learn from wherever you are.

Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to improve your fluency, I would be happy to help you develop your Portuguese skills and feel more at home with the language!
