Sobre Alex
I am a specialized Portuguese teacher for foreigners, with over a decade of experience in higher education.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication, a Master’s degree in Visual Arts and Culture, a specialization in Portuguese for Foreigners, and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). This solid and interdisciplinary foundation allows me to create dynamic, creative, and culturally rich lessons.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with students from diverse backgrounds and with different goals. This diversity is what truly inspires me. I strongly believe that learning a language is also about discovering new ways of seeing the world.
My lessons focus on practical, clear Portuguese, always connected to Brazilian culture. More than teaching rules, my goal is to help you communicate with confidence in real-life situations that matter to you.
You are very welcome!
It will be a pleasure to guide you on this journey.

My lessons are based on the idea that learning a language goes beyond memorizing rules, it’s about using it meaningfully. I focus on helping students pick up Portuguese naturally through interaction, rather than only studying grammar.
You will actively speak, listen, and engage in real-life communication from the very beginning. I prioritize authentic conversations where you express what truly matters to you, building confidence step by step.
Exposure is also key: I integrate diverse materials such as texts, audio, and video, while encouraging you to continue learning beyond the classroom.
Each lesson is dynamic and adapted to your learning style, combining practical activities, cultural insights, and communication strategies. I follow a “Portuguese as an Additional Language” approach, valuing your previous linguistic and cultural knowledge as part of the learning process.

Detalhes
I am a native speaker of Brazilian Portuguese and I also speak English, French, and Spanish. If you speak any of these languages, you can feel even more confident choosing my lessons. Being multilingual allows me to better understand the challenges you may face when learning a new language and to explain concepts more clearly when needed. My goal is to make your learning experience smooth, no matter your background or level.
