PERSONAL
I am Welsh (British), I like milk in my tea, but don't feel 100% British as I have lived for most of my life outside the UK.
PROFESSIONAL
I have worked as an English teacher and teacher trainer for over 30 years, but also work as a coach, mentor, intercultural and leadership trainer in business and educational contexts.
I wrote language text-books for Porto Editora for more than a decade, as well as giving many training sessions for English language teachers in Portugal. I speak frequently in English language conferences and seminars for APPI (Associação Portuguesa de Professores de Inglês), and give training in mentoring in schools via FPCEUP (Faculdade de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação, U. Porto).

YOU AS AN INDEPENDENT / ADVANCED LANGUAGE LEARNER
You are already quite an accomplished English user, but need to develop your ability to discuss topics which are especially relevant for you or that challenge you do a deeper more sophisticated use of English. You appreciate a relaxed, natural, yet challenging both intellectually and linguistically. If you need a more grammatical, writing, reading approach, we may not be the best fit.
We focus on oral conversational skills at a high level, and maybe presentation (media training) skills for those needing to make business presentations, conferences, or presenting your Masters or even a PhD.
Maybe you are hoping to take an international exam like CAE, CPE or IELTS, for example and need to get a great score on the speaking element of the exam. Whatever your specific need, we can address it.
I will give advice, pointers, identify specific language areas you may need to focus on improving — and we will work on pronunciation issues focussing on specific words, intonation, reading aloud (especially academic contexts for conferences).
